Mediation Services
Postive Communication Systems provides mediation services for families and divorcing couples, as well as employment,
workplace and community mediation. Participants in the mediation process may be self-referred or court ordered.
Transformative mediation is the mediation technique used. This format allows the participants to determine the course
of the mediation including:
- topics to be covered
- guidlelines for effective communication
- areas
of importance
- development of a resolution
Transformative mediation is a positive process which
allows participants to discuss all aspects of the conflict in confidentiality and minimizes the adversarial nature of traditional litigation.
This form of mediation is very effective for relationships that will be ongoing, such as family, divorce, workplace and community
conflict. The goal of transformative mediation is to allow the parties to develop their own conflict resolution styles and
to recognize their ability to resolve problems. The agreements reached through the mediation process will be developed by
the parties. The mediator will act as a facilitator to the process, but will have no ability to determine how an issue will
be resolved, nor will they make any evaluations on the resolution. In addition, the mediator will not provide legal advice,
nor will they act as an advocate for either of the parties. All participants in mediation are strongly encouraged to retain
the services of an attorney.

"Traditional litigation is a mistake that must be corrected... For some
disputes trials will be the only means, but for many claims trial by adversarial contest must in time go the way of the ancient
trial by battle... Our system is too costly, too painful, too destructive, too inefficient for really civilized people."
- Chief Justice Warren E. Burger of the U.S. Supreme Court
